Quickstart

The Lab uses stable endpoint paths rather than embedding a version folder. Each API reports its independent contract version in the response metadata.

Authentication

Data and account endpoints require X-Forge-Key. The gateway retains Bearer compatibility, but this hosting edge strips the standard Authorization header. Keys are random, shown once, and stored only as SHA-256 digests. Status, catalog, plans, documentation, examples, and OpenAPI are public. Public account registration remains disabled.

Independent versioning

Every response reports api_contract_version, dataset_version, and data_refreshed_at. Contract versions track request and response behavior; dataset versions track source refreshes. APIs mature independently behind Platform 1.0.

Collections support cursor or page pagination according to the dataset and cap pages at 100 records.

Search and filtering

Search endpoints accept q. Common collection filters include status, country, state, category, date_from, and date_to where the data supports them. Use fields and exclude for projection.

Plans, Stripe, and hard quotas

The Stripe subscription, one-time credit-pack, signed-webhook, idempotency, customer, portal, and account-entitlement contracts are installed. Billing is intentionally disabled until dedicated Stripe secrets and Price IDs are configured. Automatic overages remain disabled; quotas are hard limits.

Refresh and reconciliation

The serialized due-check runs through the stable Lab pointer and activates only validated releases.

Provenance and rights

Records retain their source, source record identifier, retrieval time, source update marker, license, snapshot hash, normalization version, and commercial-readiness state. Project Gutenberg records are metadata only, store no full text, and explicitly require item-level rights verification.
